Karibu Smart Generation,
We are excited to meet you!
As you already know, both you and us are not fond of boring practices. We all want to have fun and do something meaningful with our lives. But How? Good question!!
We need to have proper and efficient tools for that, that’s why we say “NOA KISU UKALE NYAMA”. It’s a Swahili phrase meaning that “sharpen your knife to eat the meat”. Meat stands for the opportunities that our environment provides us with, and the knife stands for our skills, talents and abilities to use the opportunities. So if we sharpen our skills we have a better chance of doing something meaningful with our lives.
We are young and smart, let’s do this in our own way and do wonders!!

Read moreTechnology and Innovation
The world is changing very fast due to an exponential technological advancement. Youth as the present and the future of the globe are supposed to be the center of the innovations. As a youth led organization we aspire to frontiers in creating the interventions that will bring to life more youth led innovations to solve the current and the future world challenges.
Leadership and Civic Participations
The way we engage young people today will determine the prospects for sustainable development and peace. Young people, who represent a majority of the population in Africa, are today visibly contributing as political actors, innovators, entrepreneurs and peace builders. At the same time, youth face a disproportionate social, economic and political barrier which prevents them from unleashing their full potential. To utilize young people’s potential as agents of change, requires involving and empowering them in acquiring necessary KNOWLEDGE to identify and know their LIFE PURPOSE and develop CONFIDENCE and COURAGE to go after and LIVE THEIR DREAM and affect change in their society. And these will emancipate them to develop leadership skills and their participation in different social processes to define the future of the communities they are living in.
Enterprenuership
Young people can have a significant impact on developing economies by launching their own activities that will have significant values to themselves and their communities at large. If right environment and tools are provided youth can develop an entrepreneurial mindset to start and run their successful businesses; they can grasp innovation, introduce new competition in the labor market and therefore contribute to economic productivity of the local community. Smart Generation seeks to engage and introduce innovative programs and projects that will cultivate this mindset and spirit among the today’s youth in a way that’s relatable and relevant to them.
Soft Skills
Soft skills are a combination of people skills, social skills, communication skills, character or personality traits, attitudes, career attributes, social intelligence and emotional intelligence quotients, among others, that enable people to navigate their environment, work well with others, perform well, and achieve their goals.
Hard skills were the only skills necessary for career employment and were generally quantifiable and measurable from an educational background, work experience or through interview. Success at work seemed to be related solely to the technical ability of completing tasks. For this reason, employer and companies used to hire new people based only on their objective competencies. This clarifies why nowadays people with good soft skills are in such shorter supply than workers with good hard skills.
The trend has changed in the recent years. Hard skills still represent a fundamental aspect, but soft skills equaled them for importance. According to the leadership professor Robert Lavasseur, most of the researchers he interviewed in this field “rated soft skills higher than technical skills”. Studies by Stanford Research Institute and the Carnegie Mellon Foundation among Fortune 500 CEOs confirm this idea establishing that 75% of long term job success resulted from soft skills and only 25% from technical skills (Sinha, 2008). Another study found that 80% of achievements in career are determined by soft skills and only 20% by hard skills.
This is why Smart Generation chips in to prepare the youth to deal with this fast-changing dynamics of skills.
Environment and Climate Action
Climate change has increased levels of uncertainty about our future. As its impacts intensify over time, one thing has become certain: We will leave the Earth to today’s children and young people, and to future generations. The world is home to 1.8 billion young people between the ages of 10 to 24 — the largest generation of youth in history.
Young people are increasingly aware of the challenges and risks presented by the climate crisis and of the opportunity to achieve sustainable development brought by a solution to climate change. Young people are not only victims of climate change. They are also valuable contributors to climate action. They are agents of change, entrepreneurs and innovators. We seek to scale up Tanzanian youth contribution to climate action in all possible ways whether through education, science or technology, young people
Health And Lifestyle
To be able to take charge and live the lives of their dreams, youth needs to be healthy. Smart Generation under its platform focuses on engaging to emphasize control and improvement of healthy life styles among adolescents and young adults. This is because behavioral patterns established during these developmental periods highly affect young people’s current health status and their risk for developing chronic diseases during adulthood. Examples of the issues that young adults are most vulnerable to includes:
- • Mental Health (which might lead to homicide and suicide)
- • Substance use
- • Excessive drunkardness
- • Nutrition and weight conditions
- • Sexually transmitted infections, including Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)
- • Teen and unintended pregnancies
- • Academic problems and school dropouts
- • Non communicable diseases
- • Infectious diseases
- • Reproductive health
